Sermon of the Year 2020

This year’s Grand Final of Sermon of the Year – the national, Christian event which encourages and celebrates the art of preaching – takes place in the glorious setting of St Paul’s Hammersmith in London.

Tickets to the live event, where our finalists deliver their sermons before a live audience and panel of expert judges, are now on sale.  All proceeds will go to LWPT (Leaders of Worship and Preachers Trust) the ecumenical charity, which supports preachers and students through information resources and vocational grants. Sermon of the Year is now in its fifth year.

Entries are received from preachers of all levels of experience, including students, and from all denominations across the UK. This year’s theme is ‘Made by God’ with sermons addressing the power of God’s Word and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in bringing encounters with God when people preach and others hear them.

Your ticket will include a networking reception with a refreshments, delivery of sermons by the finalists followed by judging and prize giving. At the event we’ll also have, hot off the press, copies of the Sermon of the Year 2020 book – a collection of the top ten sermons.

Cherish Women’s Conference 2020

The Cherish Foundation has become one of the highlights of our time together. Every year on one of the evenings of Cherish we celebrate some amazing women who have been secretly nominated by someone in their world. Together, we witness a testament of God’s unending grace and love for his daughters as we sit with tear flushed faces and watch the stories of these women who have shown tremendous courage and trust in God unfold.

Each woman who is honoured is totally surprised as we then lavish on her an amazing gift of a lifetime, from an all inclusive holiday to a car to a home makeover and other amazing surprises. This night is a picture of heaven touching earth as we bless those who have never personally experienced such honour and kindness.

TEST 11715 https://kingdomguide.co.uk/events/rework-2020/

Re:Work 2020

Does God really care about my job?

How can I integrate my Christian faith into my work?

How does my desire to succeed, my ambition, fit alongside the call to seek first the Kingdom of God?

How can I invest well in my future career?

These are the questions on the minds of many young professionals. For Christians in their 20s, the workplace presents a whole host of unique challenges – issues of integrity, discipleship, ambition, relationships, and more.

Re:Work is a day conference for 20-somethings run by LICC. Now in its fourth year, it seeks to support young professionals along their career journey, encouraging and equipping them for discipleship in the workplace.

Based in Central London, this conference not only explores pressing questions of modern-day discipleship and applies them to the workplace, but also offers the chance to spend 90 minutes with a mentor in a similar sector.

Come ready to worship, hear real-life stories, study the Bible, and connect with other young professionals, journeying together as we seek to live for Jesus as Christians in the workplace.

TEST 11705 https://kingdomguide.co.uk/events/unbelievers-an-emotional-history-of-doubt/

Unbelievers: An Emotional History of Doubt

The rise of secularism and atheism is often presented as a story of science, philosophy and freethinking. But what if it is instead a story of emotion, anger and anxiety? What if we choose unbelief just as intuitively and instinctively as we choose faith?

Drawing on his new book, Unbelievers: An Emotional History of Doubt, and chaired by Theos researcher, Madeleine Ward, Prof. Alec Ryrie looks at how the West came to lose its faith. Rather than an attempt to debunk atheism, or to explain its rise ‘scientifically’, he argues that we can’t understand belief, unbelief or the ‘secular’ world around us without understand that the role of the hearts as well as the head.

Alec Ryrie is the author of Unbelievers: An Emotional History of Doubt(2019), and of numerous other books including Protestants: The Faith that Made the Modern World (2017) and the prizewinning Being Protestant in Reformation Britain (2013). He is Professor of the History of Christianity at Durham University, Professor of Divinity at Gresham College, London, co-editor of the Journal of Ecclesiastical History and a Fellow of the British Academy. TEST 11703 https://kingdomguide.co.uk/events/populism-religion-and-politics-in-a-new-decade/

Populism, religion and politics in a new decade

The rise of populism has been one of the biggest political developments of recent years and there is no sign of it going away any time soon. Populist movements and leaders have changed the face of politics in Europe and beyond. Many of them have done so by using the language and symbolism of Christianity and Christendom.

Drawing on a new book Is God a Populist?, a partnership between Theos and the Norwegian Christian think tank, Skaperkraft, this event will explore the populist phenomenon and what it has to do with religion. What exactly is populism? How has it used Christianity? How have the churches responded? And what can we do about it?

Susan Kerr is Senior Research Fellow at the Religious Freedom and Business Foundation, and editor of Is God a Populist?

Nick Spencer is Senior Fellow at Theos, and a contributor to Is God a Populist?

The Oslo-based think tank Skaperkraft aims to bring the role of faith and the values of Christian heritage into the public discussions of Europe. Founded in 2011, it engages in pan-European issues such as politics and faith, innovation and the future of work, immigration and social issues such as human trafficking.

Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start – please bring your ticket. Q&A and drinks/nibbles will follow the discussion.

TEST 11701 https://kingdomguide.co.uk/events/gospel-jam-2020-the-praise-experience/

Gospel Jam 2020- The Praise Experience

Come and join us at the Gospel Jam Concert 2020: The Praise Experience.

We live in a time where people are suffering from depression, anxiety, are in broken relationships and losing their faith. Even those that believe are not exempt from the suffering.

Often when we become burdened and it looks like there is no way out, giving up feels like the only option. We get so worked up that we fail to acknowledge the power in our Creator to overcome them.

At Gospel Jam 2020, we will take you on a journey…

Even though right now things are hard and life looks difficult, the best thing you can do is to find peace in the Creator.

Don’t give up on God and never give up on yourself. What was supposed to break you and destroy you didn’t prosper and what doesn’t kill you, knows who you belong to.
